Considered one of Virginia Woolf's major works, To the Lighthouse depicts the daily life of the Ramsay family and their friends in a summer home in the Hebrides, set against the backdrop of World War I. Divided into three parts, the story begins with Mrs. Ramsay, whose desire to go "to the lighthouse" drives the narrative.
